Apple's European Operations Centre is located in Cork. Established in 1980, Apple employs more than 1000 people in Cork and from here the company provides a wide range of services to its customers in Europe.

Apple sells its products worldwide through its online stores, its own retail stores, direct sales force and resellers. It is the only company in the personal computer industry that controls the design and development of the entire personal computer from the hardware and operating system to sophisticated applications.

From an initial focus on manufacturing, the range of services has greatly expanded. The site has now evolved into a fully-fledged operations centre with a wide array of activities from a number of different corporate functions. These include Operations, Applecare, Applestore, R&D and the support functions of Finance, IS&T and Human Resources.

The Finance Department based in the Cork plant supports all functions of the business in Europe (Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, Telesales, Applecare, iTunes and Retail) and also supports the Operations activities in Asia.

The Finance Department currently numbers almost 100 people and continues to expand supporting an increasingly successful business in Europe. The roles within finance are dictated by rapidly-changing technology and markets which allows employees to take advantage of a diverse range of responsibilities and varied career paths.
